Car free!

For the first time since I passed my driving test I am officially car free. Oddly enough, it feels as if my arm or leg or whatever has been cut off. This worries me as it just goes to show how much I have come to rely on a car for transport, and how lazy I have become. Fair enough, when we lived out in the country for the last three years we needed the car, as the nearest shop was 16 miles away, but living here we have a corner shop about 3 minutes down the road, plus the main town is only a mile away, and we are lucky enough to have a great bus service. I was thinking today how much we miss driving around in the car, and I must admit one of the great attractions for me living here was the thought that we could just pop Fin in the stretchy or connecta, grab a bag, and Lewis and I could be off. We were fully intending going out today and exploring our new neighbourhood (the beach is 5 minutes away) but both Lewis and myself are full of the cold, so anywhere further than the garden seemed too much today. Never mind, I feel a bit better tonight after having consued about 5 gallons of honey, lemon and ginger, and about 3 bulbs of garlic! Hopefully some of this anti-cold concoction I have been having will filter through to Fin, as no doubt he is next in line for this horrible summer cold!
Finally, speaking of Fin, a sleepy baby pic to sign off with...

  1. What a beautiful baby! I do hope you get over your cold very soon, summer colds are often the worst.
I have never had a car as I failed my test 3 times just before we got married and then babies got in the way of trying again. I have been putting it off for a while now as even if I could drive I wouldn't have the car anyway plus driving so many children about would scare me rigid!!
We have just discovered a fab footpath which gets us into the local town in 40 mins of brisk walking, and now my littlest is big enough, its do-able. You will get used to it I'm sure, and bus rides for kiddies are so much fun!

  2. What a lovely picture - Finlay is gorgeous. I couldn't help admiring his quilt too. These colds have been horrible - we have had them too and J's nose is still running. Hope you all feel more like getting around and about soon. xx
